Luray Zoo


The Luray Zoo, is well known for it's personable atmosphere and loads of animal fun! It also boasts one of the best snake collections on the East Coast, has an interactive petting zoo, live educational animal shows, and mammals and exotic birds from around the world. The Animal Encounter Theater is a new addition to Luray Zoo. This amphitheater was built for the purpose of educating school groups, private groups and the public. The theater allows visitors of all ages to meet up-close some fascinating animals and maybe even touch a few! There also is the Pettinz Zoo, The Petting Zoo is an interactive area where kids and adults can pet and feed some of the Zoo's most friendly animals.

Appomattox Court House - National Historical Site

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is comprised of many original historic structures along with several reconstructed builings on approximately 1700 acres in rural southside Virginia. The village of Appomattox Court House was the site of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee and the event that signaled the end of four years of Civil War.

Location: Located in south central Virginia approximately 95 miles west of Richmond, VA

Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park

This historical site is known as 'The Bloodiest Landscape in North America'. Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania - more than 85,000 men wounded; 15,000 killed. No place more vividly reflects the Civil War’s tragic cost, in all its forms. These places reveal the trials of a community and nation at war. The December 13, 1862 battle is known as General Robert E. Lee’s easiest victory. A visitor center contains exhibits, 22 minute movie and bookstore to help orient visitors to the battle. A five mile driving tour and several walking trails provide access to the key spots on the battlefield.
