Timpanogos Cave National Monument
Timpanogos Cave National Monument sits high in the Wasatch Mountains. The cave system consists of three spectacularly
decorated caverns. Helictites and anthodites are just a few of the many dazzling formations to be found in the many
chambers. As visitors climb to the cave entrance, on a hike gaining over 1,000 feet in elevation, they are offered
incredible views of American Fork Canyon. The park has sightings recorded for 55 mammal species, 2 fish species, 51 bird
species, and 4 reptile species.

Natural Bridges
Natural Bridges preserves some of the finest examples of natural stone architecture in the southwest. On a tree-covered
mesa next to deep sandstone canyons, three natural bridges formed when meandering streams slowly cut through the canyon
walls. In honor of the Native Americans that made this area their home, the bridges are named "Kachina," "Owachomo" and
"Sipapu." Most visitors spend at least two to three hours exploring Natural Bridges. Plan on stopping at the visitor
center and touring the scenic drive, with stops at each overlook to view the bridges. Several short hikes allow closer
inspection of these remarkable formations, as well as Horsecollar Ruin.
Location: The entrance to Natural Bridges is at the end of Highway 275, which is roughly 35 miles west of Blanding, UT on
Highway 95. Driving time from Blanding is roughly 45 minutes. Lake Powell, UT

Canyonlands
Canyonlands preserves a colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its
tributaries. The rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers
themselves. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character and offers different
opportunities for exploration. The park is divided into four districts by the Green and Colorado rivers: the Island in the
Sky, the Maze, the Needles, and the rivers themselves. The Island in the Sky is the most accessible district, offering
expansive views from many overlooks along the paved scenic drive, several hikes of varying length and a popular
four-wheel-drive road. The Needles District offers more of a backcountry experience, requiring some hiking or four-wheel
driving to see the area’s attractions. The Maze is a remote district requiring considerably more time and self-reliance to
visit. Northwest of the Maze, the Horseshoe Canyon Unit is a day-use area with stunning Native American rock art panels.
River trips offer another way to experience the park and usually involve two or more days of boating.
Location: There are two paved entrances into Canyonlands: Highway 313 leads to the Island in the Sky, while Highway 211
leads to the Needles. Roads to the Maze are a mixture of graded dirt and 4WD. These roads may become impassable when wet.

Bryce Canyon
Bryce Canyon, famous for its worldly unique geology, consists of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters carved from
the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in southern Utah. Hopefully you will plan to stay overnight - will it be
camping or lodging? Enjoy a ranger program or two: moonlit guided hike, telescope stargazing, an entertaining geology
lesson, etc. Perhaps you would prefer a horseback ride?
