Abilene Zoo
The zoo maintains a collection of both plants and animals. The animal exhibits are surrounded by plants native to Texas.
The previous theme of the zoo was to compare animals and habitats from the Southwestern United States and Central America
to similar regions from Africa and Madagascar. The zoo's new master plan compares animals that utilize grasslands from
North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. The zoo cares for more than 800 animals representing over 200
species. The zoo maintains (2) species of primates, African Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Jaguars, Bison, and several
aquariums.
