Spring Vacations & Unique Travel Spots
Touro Synagogue
The Touro Synagogue was dedicated in 1762, and serves an active congregation today. The congregation was founded in 1658
by Sephardim who fled the Inquisition in Spain and Portugal and were searching for a haven from religious persecution in
the Caribbean. Today, the synagogue celebrates not only their story, but serves to honor all who came to this shore
seeking to worship freely.

Scituate Reservoir
Scituate Reservoir is a gentle, rural, and not at all touristy; perfect place to visit in the spring. Don't forget your
camera, though. You'll see colorful forests, windy roads and acres of beautifully crafted fieldstone walls.
The trees with all of their reflections on the water is postcard material. The quiet town is still a sight to see, with
its less traveled roads and undisturbed by bustling city life, this is a quiet part of Rhode Island that has maintained
and preserved its own natural beauty. There is ample area for some relaxing fishing and boating also.

Narragansett Bay Reserve
The reserve encompasses 2,353 acres of land on Prudence, Patience and Hope islands and 1,591 acres of water adjoining the
islands out to a depth of 18 feet. Approximately 60 percent of Prudence Island is included in the reserve's boundaries.
The island is sparsely populated because it's relatively inaccessible, and commercial development has been actively
discouraged by its residents. In addition to its human inhabitants, Prudence Island supports one of the densest herds of
white tailed deer in the northeast. Being very close to the entirely wooded Patience Island, deer can swim between these
two islands.
Location: The reserve is in the geographic center of Narragansett Bay, 12 miles north of Newport and 12 miles south of
