Guilford Courthouse National Military Park
The largest, most hotly-contested battle of the Revolutionary War's Southern Campaign was fought at the small North
Carolina backcounty hamlet of Guilford Courthouse. The battle proved to be the highwater mark of British military
operations in the Revolutionary War. Twenty-eight monuments within the park honor Revolutionary soldiers, statesmen,
heroes, and heroines. William Hooper and John Penn, two of North Carolina's three signers of the Declaration of
Independence, are buried under the Signers' Monument. A large equestrian statue of General Nathanael Greene dominates the
monument honoring the soldiers of the Southern Army and its leader.

Airborne & Special Operations Museum
The main exhibit gallery moves the visitor through time, starting in 1940 with the conception of the U.S. Army Parachute
Test Platoon and ending with today's airborne and special operations units. Much has changed in the world since the
battles of World War II and the conflicts of the Cold War era, but the courage and dedication of the American soldier is a
common bond that ties each generation together. The museum tells the history of the Army’s elite forces from WWII to today
through innovative exhibits.

Reed Gold Mine
Reed Gold Mine is the site of the first documented gold find in the United States. From this discovery, gold mining spread
gradually to nearby counties and eventually into other southern states. Portions of the underground tunnels at the Reed
mine have been restored for guided tours. A visitor center contains exhibits of gold and historical mining equipment. An
orientation film highlights the first gold discovery, and tours of a restored ore-crushing stamp mill are offered. A
picnic area is available, and trails wind through the historic mining area.
