If you are a history buff then a visit to the Museum of Confederate History in South Carolina is a must. You will find a great deal of information here about the War Between the States and you will be amazed at the memorabilia on display. You will see actual flags, firearms, photographs, clothes, weapons, currency, newspapers, letters, and other items that were from both home and military life during this period. Seeing these items makes the War Between the States even more real and visitors can truly relate to the individuals who lived during this time.
There is an exhibit here about the contributions women made to the war effort and this is quite amazing because many times people just assume the men were involved in the war. The exhibit shows how life was on the home front and how the war affected women, too. Other exhibits that alternate include Native American, African American, and other groups who served in the Confederate Army. There is an exhibit on the average soldier’s life, Generals, as well as other exhibits on loan from other museums. There are re-enactors, too, that show visitors how the war played out.
Those who visit this museum will certainly leave with a new sense of wonder at how the War Between the States occurred and how it almost succeeded at separating the country for good. It is a great museum for singles, families, and especially school groups.
