Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area


Immerse yourself in the relaxing surroundings of Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. The canyon offers a diversified landscape of forest, mountains, upland prairie, deep canyons, broad valleys, high desert, lake and wetlands. Since the creation of the recreation area, people have been able to find tranquil settings to better explore recreation, nature, wildlife, and history. Bighorn Canyon offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, hiking, magnificent vistas, wildlife watching, camping, and biking.

Location: North Entrance - Fort Smith, Montana - Take Interstate 90 to Hardin, Montana. Turn on Highway 313 traveling 40 miles south to Fort Smith, Montana and the North entrance. South entrance - near Lovell, Wyoming - From 14A turn north on Highway 37, continuing 9 miles to South entrance. Ft. Smith, MT

American Computer Museum

Over 1,000 artifacts are on display in a 6,000 square foot area. Look around you and chances are that you are near a computer or computing device. Be you in your home, car or out for a stroll - you are most probably near one. Your watch, microwave, car, ATM bank machine, telephone, pager, CD player, clock, VCR, laser disk player, dvd player - computer. All of these devices and many more have tiny silicon devices that compute and store information. By traveling through our museum's timeline you will grasp the exciting 20,000+ years of history of the information age. Technology becomes easier to accept when one learns about its origins in the natural process of human development.

Big Hole National Battlefield

On August 9, 1877 gun shots shattered a chilly dawn on a sleeping camp of Nez Perce. Colonel John Gibbons and 163 men of the 7th Infantry and 34 Bitterroot Volunteers had orders to stop the non-treaty Nez Perce and return them to Idaho. The 800 Nez Perce men, women, and children had fled their native lands when being forced onto a smaller reservations. The park's visitor center offers exhibits, a film, and a sales area.

Location: Big Hole National Battlefield is located ten miles west of Wisdom, Montana on state highway 43. Wisdom, MT
