Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
The penguin colony at the Aquarium features two species of warm-water penguins: African black-footed penguins and
Rockhopper penguins. Don't be surprised that there's no snow in their habitat--there are 17 species of penguin in the
world and just two of them live in the Antarctic. The penguins at the Aquarium like temperatures warm their exhibit is
about 68 degrees, and the water in their exhibit is cooler it's 60 degrees. The aquarium contains more than 10,000 aquatic
creatures from all areas of the Americas. For total immersion-without getting wet-walk through the aquatic tunnel in the
Caribbean Reef section or catch a glimpse of a rare white alligator through the RiverView window in the Mississippi
section. Boasting the largest collection of jellyfish in the world, the aquarium also houses sea otters, and sharks-and
lets you actually touch one.
