Mammoth Cave


This is the world's longest cave system, with more than 365 miles explored. Early guide Stephen Bishop called the cave a "grand, gloomy and peculiar place," but its vast chambers and complex labyrinths have earned its name: Mammoth. However rough you "rough it", Mammoth Cave National Park has dozens of campsites for your adventure - in three campgrounds, in the backcountry, and along the rivers.

Hardin Planetarium

Hardin Planetarium supports astronomy laboratories and demonstrations for departmental astronomy classes, as well as providing educational presentations for off-campus school groups and the general public. Public programs are presented on selected dates during the academic year.

Cumberland Gap National Historical Park

At Cumberland Gap, the first great gateway to the west, follow the buffalo, the Native American, the longhunter, the pioneer... all traveled this route through the mountains into the wilderness of Kentucky. Modern day explorers and travelers stand in awe at this great gateway and the many miles of trails and scenic features found in the park. Discover rich history, spectacular overlooks, unique rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and an extensive trail system in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park's 20,000 acres. In Gap Cave, you can explore a hidden world found underground- It is a world of darkness, with fantastic dripstone formations and strange animals who have adapted to the cave environment.

National Corvette Museum

Since 1953 the Corvette has been America's Sports Car. The National Corvette Museum was established as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation with a mission of celebrating the invention of the Corvette and preserving its past, present and future. Over 75 Corvettes are housed inside the walls of our 68,000 sq. ft. Museum recognized world-wide for its space-age design and sweeping lines. It is built on a 52-acre site surrounded by an outdoor picnic area, amphitheater, and large parking grounds. The Museum is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the mission of preservation, education and celebration.

Explorium of Lexington

Explorium of Lexington offers adventures in fun and learning. With nine discovery zones filled with interactive exhibits designed to inspire imagination and curiosity, kids of all ages have experiences that can last a lifetime. Formerly known as the Lexington Children's Museum, Explorium is one of the oldest children's museums in the United States. Since 1990, over one million visitors from around Kentucky and across the country have enjoyed this fun, educational experience.
