Joyland Amusement Park
Joyland Amusement Park has been Wichita's amusement and entertainment destination since 1949, and is the largest and only
theme park in the area to have a Roller Coaster. Joyland's Roller Coaster - a Philadelphia Tobbogan Coaster- is world
reknowned for being one of the last surviving original wooden Roller Coasters, and is ranked as an ACE Coaster Classic.
Designed by Herb Schenke, it has a 2600 ft track span, 80ft drop and 50mph top speed. It is the only coaster in North
America using vintage rolling stock with fixed lap bars. Joyland has over 24 working amusement rides, including: Fontier
Land, Round Up, Zumur, Dodge'm - Classic Bumper cars, Tilt-A-Whirl, Log Jam, Giant Slide, Paratrooper, Ferris Wheel, and
more. Joyland also has a valuable collection of kiddie land rides, including Dune buggies, Horse and carriages, Bulgy the
Whale, and other Herschel Rides. It also features an Old-West Frontier Town and Go-Kart Track.

Lawrence Parks & Recreation Department
The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department was officially established as the Lawrence Recreation Commission on April 2,
1946, to fulfill the mission of providing excellent city services that enhance the quality of life for the Lawrence
community. Lawrence Parks and Recreation runs the community building and six large recreation centers, including indoor
and outdoor water sports centers, Prairie Park Nature Center and Eagle Bend Golf Course, in addition to 50 city parks and
numerous city trails. It also sponsors a wide array of popular recreational classes such as Yoga, aerobics and bridge. It
sponsors both adult and children's sports leagues and programs for individuals with disabilities.

Perry Lake
Perry Lake has about everthing the outdoors person could want, such as Hiking, fishing, Swimming and lots more. There are equestrian trails, ATV and Motorcycle Trails,
mountain bike trails, and interpretative hiking trails. Sightseers will revel in the breathtaking panoramic views found
throughout the lake area. Several wetland areas provide home to many species of birds. In addition, Perry Lake is host to
several camping facilities that contain sites suitable for tent campers to those with recreational vehicles. Two marinas
are located at Perry Lake and provide a full assortment of marine services. Several of the nearby communities host
restaurants and historical attractions.

Wilson Lake
Wilson lake is described as the clearest lake in Kansas, it is a 9,100-acre lake and has over 100 miles of beautiful shoreline. It provides tons of outdoor acrivities such as: Boating, Camping,
Fishing, Swimming, Wildlife, Hunting, Trails, Rock Art and more. Boaters on Wilson Lake will enjoy the large main body of
the lake on calm days for water skiing and pleasure boating. Sail boaters can find plenty of room to maneuver on Wilson
Lake as well. Lake Wilson Marina provides fuel, mooring facilities and supplies. Five campgrounds are conveniently
located around Wilson Lake. Good channel and flathead catfish can be found in the lake. Worms, minnows, shad and crayfish
are preferred baits. A good population of crappie, largemough and smallmouth bass, walleye, and striped bass can also be
caught at Wilson Lake.

Fort Scott National Historic Site
It is the mission of the National Park Service at Fort Scott National Historic Site to preserve, protect and interpret
nationally significant historic resources related to the opening of the West, the Permanent Indian Frontier, the
Mexican-American War, Bleeding Kansas, the Civil War and the expansion of railroads. As you visit the site, you will view
historic structures and exhibits that tell the story of this important era of our nation's history.
Location: Fort Scott National Historic Site is located in downtown Fort Scott, Kansas. U.S. Highways 69 and 54 intersect
here. Fort Scott is about 90 miles south of Kansas City and 60 miles northwest of Joplin, Missouri. It is 4 miles from the
Kansas-Missouri border. Signs directing visitors to Fort Scott are posted on highway 69 for visitors coming from the north
and the south and on highway 54 for visitors coming from the east and the west. The entrance to the site is one block west
of the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 54 east. (Highway 54 west splits off from Highway 69 about 1/2 mile north of
town.)
