Close your eyes and imagine a waterfall pouring over the edge and falling with crashes and splashes into a gorge littered with large boulders. Then, feel the mist from the
falls blowing through the breeze and kissing your face. What you are imagining is known as the "Niagara of the South", this 125 foot wide waterfall appears to be a curtain
of water falling to the gorge below. No matter when you see this waterfall it is amazing and it gives off a different appearance at night and during the day.
One of the most amazing aspects of Cumberland Falls is the moon bow, which only shows up on nights when there is a full moon. That event in itself is worth visiting the
falls and if you can plan a trip on a full moon then you will experience something like you have never seen. You won't find anything like this anywhere else in the Western
Hemisphere so it really is worth a visit!
You can plan some other activities while you are visiting Cumberland Falls State Park in Corbin, Kentucky. Some of the most popular are canoeing and white water
rafting. There are professionals who will take you out on the water if you are looking for a guide. A great place to stay is at the Dupont Lodge, where you can relax and
enjoy the view of the valley. While you are in the area you may also enjoy horseback riding, swimming, and other outdoor activities.
