If you like to get outside and enjoy nature then you will want to check out the Chattahoochee Nature Center the next time you are in Georgia. There is no limit to the many things you can do and explore here not to mention entrance is very affordable. The nature center is known for its green roof terrace, which is definitely worth a visit just to say you have been! There are also many lush gardens made up of native plants that are breathtakingly beautiful.
You will also appreciation the interactive exhibits at the LEED Certified indoor Discovery Center. There are also native birds that can’t be released that include owls, hawks, and the beautiful and regal Eagle. Take a stroll down the River Boardwalk that is right beside the Chattahoochee River. Here you can check out all kinds of wildlife and do a little bird watching while you are at it.
Tours are self guided so you can pace yourself and explore the areas that are most of interest and skip over the ones that aren’t. The nature center is open from 9 am through 5pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday. The center is closed on major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The center closes early on Christmas Eve and on New Year’s eve. The price for entrance is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children ages 3-12, and kids under 2 are free.
There are some excellent tours and hikes to take advantage of all week. These include the Creature Feature, the trail hikes, bird watcher hikes, and more. Take the time to explore the six hiking trails that include the River Boardwalk Trail, Beaver Pond Trail, Forest Trail, Homestead Trail, Kingfisher Pond Trail, and Stone Cabin Trail.
