Nebraska - Carhenge - A replica of Stonehenge made out of Automobiles

Everyone is familiar with Stonehenge in the UK, it's been shown on the News, and in many books, movies, and television documentaries over the years. Like the Pyramids of Egypt, and other such structures around the world, we are told numerous reasons by many so called experts, why these structures were built.

Stonehenge is one of them places that probably everyone wishes they could visit sometime in their life, but the sad fact is, that a trip to the UK, is very expensive, and it's something that a lot of people will never be able to afford.

I have some great news for you, how would you like to visit a site in the good ol USA that is just as fascinating as Stonehenge, in fact it was built to resemble Stonehenge in every way, except one, it's built with automobiles, that's right, automobiles, and it's called Carhenge. Carhenge is built to resemble Stonehenge in the UK as close is possible, by building it out of vintage automobiles.

Some of the automobiles are buried rear end down, several feet in the ground, and others are buried at different angles, with other automobiles welded on top of them in positions like the stones of the UK Stonehenge.

The automobiles at Carhenge have all be painted with multiple coats of great paint to help keep them preserved from the elements, and it is the perfect color to match the color of stone. All of the stones that make up the UK Stonehenge are duplicated with automobiles at Carhenge.

Carhenge has grown over the years, where there used to just be the incredible Stonehenge duplicated by automobiles, the site has grown to display other amazing things such as a fish, or more exactly a salmon during the spawning season, an early period wagon, dinosaur and more, each made from parts of automobiles.

There is a gift shop on the grounds, where you can buy some unique gifts and merchandise to give to others, or to just keep in remembrance of your visit there. When you visit Carhenge, make sure to bring your favorite camera, as you and others may wish to pose next to some of the incredible displays. Carhenge is absolutely free to visit, but you are more them welcome to leave a donation. Carhenge is open year around, and is located in Alliance, Nebraska.
